Meet Elaine
Hello! Just a little bit about me…I like fresh sheets, hot cocoa, wild daisies, and running along the riverwalk by my home in Naperville,Illinois. I like John Denver music, soft things, the sun’s rays, anything chocolate, and watching lightning storms from the security of my bedroom. I like counting my blessings, trying out new experiences, writing about life, helping others, and knowing who I am. I am a woman, a wife, a mother, a grammy, a friend and a daughter of God. I am a person with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), a person striving to live my hopes and dreams and a person with a heart full of gratitude.
I am grateful for all the good in the world, beginning with the good that lies within you and me. I am grateful to God who watches over me and strengthens me. With His help I am able to face the challenges in my life with grace, wisdom, and compassion, learning to look for the best in myself despite depression’s lies. As I have learned to trust God, I have found the answers I need for healing and wellness. Experiencing joy is my quest for myself and others. I continue to learn, grow and seek help along the way. I want to learn from you too! Please post comments or contact me at ehquinn41@gmail.com
Thank you, Elaine

When you have five children and then they have children…..Fun times!
Why am I qualified to write about Depression and Anxiety?
I have managed a chronic “treatment resistant” major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder for 30 years. I had some bouts with these illnesses growing up, yet they were transient enough that I was not diagnosed until I was 29 years old. Over the years I have studied, prayed, explored and tried many different approaches to managing my illnesses and finding wellness. My pathway has included being hospitalized in psychiatric wards, having Electroconvulsive Therapy(ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS.)
I have done a lot to educate myself. I know that knowledge is power. Because of my resistance to treatment, my philosophy for becoming well has been, “leave no stone unturned.” I am grateful beyond words that I have found answers and have learned to manage my illnesses! This has been a spiritual journey and I know that it is through my Father in Heaven and His Son, my Savior Jesus Christ, that I can look forward to each new day and a wonderful future. I want the same for you!
