Big Red Small and Simple Offerings

Scanning my boarding pass, I walk onto the airplane. Let’s see 12-C, here I am. I sit down and pull my book out of my purse, then place my purse under the seat in front of me. I am looking forward to just sitting, relaxing, and reading. On board I breathe out a sigh of…

Behind the Photo – Everyone Throws Up

As a mother I worry about my children’s and grandchildren’s daily dose…doses of social media. With this “in your face” exposure to everyone’s life, it is easy to fall prey to comparing yourself to others. Comparing, while sometimes can be motivational, usually brings feelings of inferiority, discontent, and misery. When I am tempted to compare myself…

Anger and Depression Is your anger signaling depression?

My brain is not connecting the dots.  I was just so frustrated. It seemed simple enough – shoes first, pants next, don’t forget my hair towel. I don’t enjoy packing for trips, so I made up a check list to try and make it easier. Today I am staring at the list and still…

It’s May! Can You Come Out and Play?

I enjoy a little “R&R”- rest, and relaxation. For me, this equals soaking in a hot bath, nibbling on some chocolates, and curling up in bed early with a good book. Taking time to rest and relax is crucial for our wellbeing. Today I would like you to consider another “R” that sometimes gets…

It's Time

It's time to see depression as a real illness, to know it's not a lack of personal effort, it's not a lack of goodness. It is painful, dark, disabling and life threatening.

It’s time to be okay with darkness, to recognize its purpose, to embrace your journey, and to search for and welcome the light.

It’s time to fill the emptiness, to reach out to others, to know you are not alone, And to offer compassion to yourself as you would another.

It’s time to ignore that negative voice in your head, to let go of guilt and shame, to not take counsel from fear, and to place your trust in God.

It’s time to shed those tears, to see the heart space that pain has created for hope to spring up, faith to grow and love to be invited in.

It's time to say, "I matter," to see miracles, to rest, to run to forgive, to express gratitude. To choose joy, to praise life and to become the best you.
